Dr. X. Sahaya Shajan
Dr. X. Sahaya Shajan is a distinguished Professor with over three and half decades of teaching, research, and academic leadership experience. His research expertise spans advanced functional materials, nanocomposites, aerogels, solar cells and energy storage devices. He has successfully completed multiple government-funded projects from Department of Science and Technology (DST), Board of Research in Nuclear Sciences (BRNS), Department of Atomic Energy, Science and Engineering Research Board (SERB), and Nation Council for Science and Technology Communication (NCSTC) of DST, with grants exceeding ₹200 lakhs. His prolific publication record includes 75 SCI-indexed papers and 95 Google Scholar publications (H-index 23 and i10 index 37), with notable contributions in high-impact journals on dye-sensitized solar cells, crystal growth, nanostructured materials. He has authored three book chapters published leading international publishers including Taylor and Francis, CRC Press, USA. Beyond research, Dr. Shajan has held significant academic leadership roles, including Head, Dean, Director (Academics & Research) at various academic institutions, and currently Professor and Director (IQAC) at Gregorian Institute of Technology. He has served on as member in governing councils, academic councils of academic institutions and Chairman of Board of Studies of autonomous colleges. He has also served as an Advisor to educational institutions for NAAC and NBA accreditation, successfully guiding them to secure accreditation status from the respective agencies. He has acted as doctoral thesis examiner for universities in India, Malaysia, and Spain. He has also served as the External Evaluator for Project Proposals submitted to National Science Centre, Govt. of Poland. He is a recognized reviewer for leading international journals including American Chemical Society, Elsevier, and Springer and has also organized several national and international conferences and coordinated five DST-INSPIRE internship camps for school students fully supported by Department of Science and Technology, Govt. of India with a funding of around Rs. 50 lakhs. His contributions have been recognized with prestigious honours, including the INSA Visiting Scientist Fellowship (2014) and INSA International Travel Grant (2017). Dr. Shajan is a life member of the Photonics Society of India (PSI), Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE), and Materials Research Society of India (MRSI) and continues to play a pivotal role in advancing college education and interdisciplinary research in materials science.
